The BOM element in the ProMan ERP application stands for Bills Of Material and represents our interface with a manufacturer’s product engineering department, those who generate the design, product specifications, part numbers and bills of material for the company. ProMan provides support for these individuals in their everyday work and in disseminating their information to the rest of the manufacturing operation.
The process starts with the definition of parts within the system. While many systems require multiple screens to detail this information, we start with just one. Called PARTS_ENG, it creates and maintains the system critical information necessary to define the product, starting the manufacturing process rolling.
Our system allows for events like the creation of part numbers to trigger email messages to responsible parties so they can work in concert with the product engineers.
Multiple drawing references are available for each part and can be used to integrate with many different CAD applications. A drawing, then is just one click away in any screen that contains the part number, making it available for use on the Shop Floor, Purchasing and many other functional areas.
Once parts are in place, building the bill of material (formula) is easy. Level by level components are entered and displayed as the process continues and component level detail is just a click away. Ties to Engineering Change Order, Process Plans and substitute part logic are just some of the standard features included.
